Hello, Smith Parents!

Hello and Happy February!

I hope everyone survived the polar vortex and three "snow days" at home! January was a busy month with classes resuming after the holidays and the PTO hosting the skate party at Skateworld at the end of the month!  Thank you to everyone who came out!  As always, thank you to the incredible PTO volunteers who helped organize the event. January was also the month where the Everybody Counts program took place in classrooms. Thank you to the volunteers who helped teach our kids about disability awareness and inclusion!

Our next PTO Executive Board Meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 6:00 p.m. We are no longer doing the Teacher Features, but everyone is invited to come and find out what PTO is working on, offer input and ask questions.

February is a short month, especially with Winter Break, but there are still plenty of ways to help out your school through PTO. We are always in need of volunteers to help with various projects or needs in the school. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in volunteering.

Lastly, don't forget about the Amazon Smile PTO fundraiser! All you need to do is check out through Amazon Smile (and select Smith PTO as your group) when you are finished shopping. It doesn't cost you anything and it is an easy way for us to raise money to support the programs at Smith! Please let me know if you need more information.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Winter Break,

Juliet Glaser

PTO President

Skateworld Family Fun Night Update!

Thanks to everyone who came out to Skateworld for our Family Fun Night Jan. 24!

We had 117 skaters!!  Congratulations to the fifth grade students!  They won an ice cream sandwich party for having the most skaters!

We will look forward to hosting more parties like this in the future. Stay tuned!

Save those Box Tops!!

Our spring Box Tops drive is in full swing! Thanks to you, we have already raised $400 this year through the Box Tops program to support the wonderful programs at Smith School. Let's finish strong with the spring drive and get another big check for our school!

The deadline for submitting box tops is Monday, Feb. 25 (the day students return from Winter Break). Please send in clipped, unexpired Box Tops in zipper bags with your children to deposit in their classroom's Box Top bag. As an incentive, the class that submits the most Box Tops will receive a gift card to purchase a fun game for their classroom!

A complete list of participating Box Tops products can be found HERE.

Thank you for supporting the Smith PTO!

Military Kids Club!

The mission of the Military Kids Club is to provide a fun and safe place for our military kids to be encouraged, strengthened, and connected to the E.D. Smith Community. The club meets about once a month during the lunch period to do fun activities and community service projects.

Our next meeting will be Friday, Feb. 8 during the lunch period. If your child would like to attend please have them report to the library right at 11:40 a.m. to stay for the entire lunch period. If they are buying their lunch, they can go to the cafeteria right away to get their lunch tray and bring it up to the library.

Please contact Ashley O'Hara or Jamie Carter if you have any questions or to find out more about how your Smith student can participate.
