Oakwood High School Theatre will present Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, adapted by Thomas Hischak, for this year's fall play.
A beautiful retelling of Louisa May Alcott’s classic tale, narrated by older Josephine March herself. The four March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy—continue to live in the hearts of readers, causing smiles and tears, triumph and tragedy as they grow up, fall in love and face life. This classic American tale will touch the heart of every person in the audience.
The show opens Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. Additional performances will be Nov. 8 at 7 p.m., and Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students, general admission. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
Arts programming in the Oakwood Schools is getting a boost thanks to the Oakwood Arts Bridge. The group awarded more than $4,600 in grants to enhance and support student programming.
Stage productions held in the Oakwood High School auditorium will now include a follow-spot. This adaptable spotlight ranges from a small pin-spot to a full stage floodlight in various colors. You can see the light in action during the OHS spring musical, “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder,” performed April 11-13.
The OHS marching band is also purchasing new drums and equipment thanks to Oakwood Arts Bridge. The new drumline equipment will make its debut during the 2019 fall football season.
"Receiving this teacher grant is awesome! I appreciate the generosity of Oakwood Arts Bridge so much,” OHS Band Director Adam Uhlenhake said. “We'll definitely be able to make a sizable dent in the drumline purchase with this grant."
Thank you to parents and the community for generous support of Oakwood FAB (formerly Oakwood Arts Bridge) since 2009. Because of your contributions, we were able to fund the following items for the last two school years:
