Oakwood Parent Teacher Organizations exist to build communities of parents and teachers who work together to support the school district’s vision, mission and core values. Each organization operates independently to foster communication and fund programs to enhance the educational, cultural and social environment for all students and families.

Smith Playground Project

Smith playground renderng

In early 2020 the E.D. Smith PTO was presented with an opportunity to contribute to a new playground. PTO members voted to donate $10,000 to the playground project. Additionally, the PTO began a fundraising campaign with the assistance of the Oakwood Schools Foundation. The PTO would like to thank the parents, students, alumni and community members for their generous donations. The playground was installed in April 2020 and will be enjoyed by numerous students for years to come.

Donations are still being accepted for additional equipment and future improvements.  Any amount is greatly appreciated.  Donations may be made by check or online. All donations to The Oakwood Schools Foundation will be processed by The Dayton Foundation.

Meetings are typically held in the Smith library on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.

Follow Us on Facebook

We hope every family will join the Smith Elementary PTO this year! Not only will you be supporting this awesome organization, but your membership allows you to access our online directory.

Our directory is a fantastic resource for family and staff contact information, as well as the school calendar and class rosters.
In order for the directory to be complete, we need you! We need confirmation from ALL Smith Families each year, even if your information hasn’t changed. This ensures the information we have for your family is correct and your authorization allows you to decided what contact information you want to share.

Be on the lookout this summer for an email with easy instructions for how to quickly confirm or update
your family’s information and to purchase your Smith PTO Membership.

If you didn’t receive an email before the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, are new to Smith or have any questions, please
email Ashley Orr at
