While the majority of Oakwood students walk to and from our buildings, there are select groups of students who are provided van/bus transportation daily.

• The District utilizes a fleet of vehicles to provide transportation to students attending career technical programs, qualifying students with disabilities and preschool students with disabilities.

• The District contracts with an outside vendor to provide a shuttle bus for kindergarten students.  These buses run from Smith and Harman to Lange School each morning and back in the afternoon.

• All exterior doors to each of our schools are locked during instructional time.
• School personnel wear badges to identify that they belong in the building.
• Students and staff engage regularly in safety drills and debrief following each drill so that we are constantly learning and improving.
• Visitors to each of the schools are required to be buzzed into the office prior to being able to enter.
• Once in the office, visitors that will be entering the building are required to have their state issued IDs scanned and run through the sex offender database prior to entering the building.
• Security cameras are installed at key places both inside and outside of each of our school buildings.
• Ongoing assessments of the physical security of each of our buildings are continuously done in order to ensure that weaknesses have not developed over time.
• The District maintains a positive working relationship with the Oakwood Safety Department.
• The District partners with the Ohio School Safety Center in the use of the Safer Ohio School Tip Line.
• All staff, substitutes, coaches, and volunteers are fingerprinted by the District prior to working with or around students.
