Commemorating the Rick and Jane Schwartz Performing Arts Wing

Today, we celebrate a significant milestone in our educational journey – the ribbon-cutting ceremony of our new Rick and Jane Schwartz Performing Arts Wing. This is a momentous occasion that has been made possible through the unwavering support of our community and the generosity of our esteemed donors.

As we soon tour this state-of-the-art facility, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the collaborative spirit that has brought us to this point. Our commitment to providing a well-rounded education is deeply rooted in the belief that the arts play a vital role in shaping the minds and hearts of our students. Today, we witness the realization of that commitment.

This Fall, I led tours with our alumni to share about this construction project.  From my experiences playing the violin in my school’s orchestra, I quickly referenced how the new spaces would address what I called the 3 S’s: space, sound, and storage.

Today, I have a new S to add.  It’s Seen.  Thank you for providing a space for our students and the arts to be seen.

To our dedicated community members, your support has been the bedrock upon which our dreams have been built. Your enthusiasm for the arts, your tireless efforts, and your willingness to invest in the future of our students have not only created a space for artistic expression but also a haven for creativity to flourish.

I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to our generous donors. Your contributions have been instrumental in turning our vision into reality. Your belief in the power of education and the arts has transformed aspirations into achievements. And for that, we are forever grateful.

This Performing Arts Wing is not just a structure of bricks and mortar; it is a testament to the values we hold dear in Oakwood – a commitment to excellence, a dedication to nurturing talent, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every student. It is a space where creativity will be cultivated, dreams will take flight, and where the arts will continue to weave the fabric of our vibrant community.

As we embark on this new chapter, let us remember that the impact of this Performing Arts Wing extends far beyond these walls. It is a gift to future generations, a legacy that will resonate with the joyful notes of a choir, the graceful melodies of our orchestra, and the powerful, spirit-led energy of our bands.

In closing, let me once again express my deepest appreciation to everyone who has played a role in making this dream a reality. Together, we have created a space that will inspire, empower, and enrich the lives of our students for years to come.

Thank you, and may the arts continue to flourish in the heart of Oakwood.
