Gathering Feedback Through the Community Survey

As part of the District Plan on “Embarking on a New Journey,” I am excited to conduct our first “State of the Schools” Address at our public Board Meeting on Monday, February 12, 2024.  This is not only an excellent opportunity to hear about the exceptional things happening in Oakwood Schools but also to get a preview of areas we need to explore in the future.  And, if nothing else, we are hosting it in our new OHS/OJH Band Room in the new Rick and Jane Schwartz Performing Arts Wing so you can check it out!  If you can’t make it, look for a video summarizing the information later this week.

This week, we will also begin conducting the community survey.  For open transparency, we’ve contracted with an external partner, Fallon Research & Communications, Inc.,  to conduct this public opinion research survey.  Oakwood Schools has utilized their services in the past and have an excellent reputation working with other school districts across the State.  The survey will gather general feedback from community members regarding academics, safety, facilities, finances, and communication.  Based on creating a representative sample of the Oakwood community, live telephone interviews and secure SMS-text based surveys will be conducted that will appear with a pollingnet.com link.

We expect to receive the results from the survey group in four-six weeks after the conclusion of the survey that will include cross-tabs.  We will post the results to our district website and also process them at a future Board Meeting for dialogue.  The timing of this survey will also aid in the feedback with the strategic planning process.

I am excited for the opportunity to continue gathering feedback from our community as we come together to reimagine the future for Oakwood Schools.
