Welcome OHS Class of 1982!

Hello classmates of 1982! Wow, it's hard to believe it's been 40 years! I am looking forward to catching up this fall at our reunion with as many of you who can attend.

You may or may not know, I am the Vice Chair of the Oakwood Schools Foundation. We work to improve and keep the integrity of the school that shaped all of us. Oakwood Schools continues to excel in academics and promote an amazing community. The importance of giving back is near and dear to me.

In March of 2020, the Foundation launched an $8.8 million dollar project, FLOURISH: A Campaign for Oakwood's Performing and Visual Arts. I am proud to serve as the Steering Committee Chair for this major initiative. We asked students, alumni, and community members what the schools needed and it all came back to the arts. FLOURISH will support significant updates to create state-of-the-art arts facilities at OJH/OHS, ensuring Oakwood students are best prepared for their post-secondary pursuits, have the opportunity to showcase their achievements, and celebrate the arts in the community. FLOURISH will help align Oakwood Schools with our peers who are already enjoying enhanced arts spaces today - so this is to help our current and future Lumberjacks have experiences that will best position them with their peers today.

The FLOURISH Campaign is 100% privately funded with support from friends and residents of Oakwood and surrounding suburbs. Oakwood parents and alumni both local and across the country. As a class gift, it is my hope that we can all feel empowered to donate to the FLOURISH Campaign to make our mark on the future as a class -TOGETHER. There's no better time than now, as a very generous Oakwood alumni couple and long-term friends of the community and the Foundation have generously offered to match gifts to the FLOURISH Campaign up to $500,000, this includes for multi-year pledge commitments.

With your help, FLOURISH will provide Oakwood students with the arts facilities needed to remain competitive with peers and to fully realize their individual potential, while enhancing the arts landscape for the community-at-large.

To learn more about the project, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at kevin@oakwoodschoolsfoundation.org. I am happy to share more with you about the project and its status. My siblings and I are honoring our parents because we are grateful for their sacrifices of raising us and teaching us to be responsible and productive citizens.
