Strong performances led to a first place win in the team sweepstakes for the Oakwood High School Speech and Debate team at the Third Annual Yellow Springs Fearless Forensic Festival Saturday, Jan. 30.
Isabel Rubin-Alvarez placed first in Dramatic Interpretation. Natalie Bridgewaters placed fourth in the category. In Lincoln-Douglas, it was Canaan Smith placing first and Sophie Johnson placing sixth.
OHS secured another first place finish in the category of Public Forum Debate, with the team of Julia Neal and Tess Patton placing first. Katy Butler and Bella Butler placed third.
In Congressional Debate, Anna Munk placed second in chamber A and Jack Benbow placed second in chamber B.
In Humorous Interpretation, Quinn MacDonald placed second and Shayla Frederick placed second in Program Oral Interpretation. In Informative Speaking, Bryn Cortez placed sixth.
The team now moves on to the state-qualifying tournament.
