Oakwood High School Academic Decathlon team members are celebrating an 11th Division III National championship. OHS won the title at the United States Academic Decathlon National Competition in Frisco, Texas, April 27 - 29. More than 600 students from across the country competed at the event, held in person for the first time since 2019.
The team earned 47 individual medals across the subject areas and achieved 7 out of 9 total individual overall score awards in the three G.P.A. divisions, earning a combined total of $6000 in scholarship awards. Taking individual overall score awards were:
- Rohan Haack - 1st overall Honors division; also highest scoring student for OHS
- Alex Devgan - 3rd overall Honors division
- Charli Kulka - 1st overall Scholastic division
- Jack Campbell - 2nd overall Scholastic division
- Brian Fischer - 3rd overall Scholastic division
- Danny Vásconez - 1st overall Varsity division
- Ian Brooks - 2nd overall Varsity division
Additionally, Charli Kulka received special recognition as the Most Valuable Team Member.
