Six members of the Oakwood High School Class of 2022 are being recognized as Semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship program. To achieve this honor, students had to be among the highest scoring in the state on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
The OHS semifinalists are: Alexander Baals Kall, Henry Brodowski, Soren Kingston, Norah Miller, Caterina Tian-Svobodny and Eugene Young.
“I am so proud of our Oakwood High School National Merit Semifinalists. This recognition is a major accomplishment and a tribute to their hard work and determination that is indicative of the support they have received over the years,” OHS Principal Dr. Paul Waller said.
These talented seniors represent less than one percent of students who took the 2020 test. They will now have the opportunity to compete for 7,500 National merit scholarships, totalling $30 million. To be considered for a scholarship award, Semifinalists will need to fulfill several requirements, including writing an essay.
National Merit Scholarship winners for 2022 will be announced starting in April.
