Oakwood Junior High Power of the Pen writers are moving on to state competition after competing virtually in the Regional Tournament March 5.
Oakwood's combined 7th and 8th-grade teams won the Sweepstakes Award, which represents the highest-scoring team from both the district and regional events combined. The 8th grade Power of the Pen team placed second overall.
Eighth grade Writers Arwen Feng, Matilda Prizler and Teegan Williams qualified for the State Tournament. Special recognition was given to Matilda Prizler, who received the Platinum Pen Award for her narrative titled, "The Final Move."
On the 7th grade team, writers Sadie Gobrail and Ruxandra Paslaru are advancing to state. Paslaru placed first and Gobrail placed third overall.
