Because Summer School is a concentrated program of study, regulations must be strictly enforced. In most cases, courses are meeting for the minimal amount of time allowable by the State of Ohio guidelines. Summer School is an opportunity for students to obtain credit through direct instruction.  This format and schedule may not fit with every family’s schedule. If that is the case,  please see your guidance counselor to explore other educational options.

General Regulations

Attendance

One day of Summer School class equals one week of typical instruction during the regular school year. Courses offering credit toward graduation (Grades 9-12) are planned at minimum requirements; therefore, a student must be in attendance on  ALL DAYS except in the event of personal illness and other approved emergencies.  Oakwood City School District Policy #5200 does not apply to Summer School courses due to the highly concentrated timeline. Therefore, the attendance policy listed below is what will be enforced for Summer School.
